What is liberalism to you?
Liberalism is a principle that, at bottom, acknowledges truths that seem dichotomous but are in fact complementary: that each of us is at once an individual human being and also inextricably tied to and reflected by all others through our common humanity. Liberalism is the recognition that these truths compel us to respect the rights of the individual in order to produce a healthy collective, and go on to achieve moral and social progress.
Who are you?
At my core I am a storyteller. I have been writing and crafting stories since I could lift a crayon, and have spent the bulk of my life finding ways to use my skills and sensibilities to communicate with others, or to help them communicate with one another.
Whether it’s through music, photography, fiction, poetry, or persuasive essays, my goal has always been to tell people a story—about me, about them, about us—in a way that is compelling and, hopefully, as enriching and inspiring to them as so much art has been for me.
In short, I am someone with an intense desire to use their powers for good, who wants to leave the world a little better than how he found it.
What do you do?
I think, I listen, I read, I write, I speak, I perform, I express, I entertain, I craft, I collaborate, I cheerlead, and I hope.
